New to Ultimate?Ultimate is a great way to get fit and meet new people. It's all about fun and competitiveness, which builds a fantastic community from a bunch of good people. Ultimate's great for women who play other sports - either as cross-training or as something different - and plenty of women enjoy playing who've never enjoyed sport before. Ultimate is non-contact and the good sportsmanship (even at the elite level) is refreshing. Where can I join? There are a number of options to play Ultimate, depending on your level of experience. Women's competitionsVictorian women's clubs In Victoria, there are currently two women's clubs. These clubs each qualified to send teams to this year's Australian National Championships. To learn more, or to contact a club, visit their page: Honey and Team Box . If you're interested in joining a club for the next National's campaign, teams will be calling for expressions of interest and hosting open training and/or selection sessions sometime between November and January. Keep your eye on the melbourne-ultimate email list (yahoogroup) for updates. NUFL The National Ultimate Frisbee League is a national, elite competition. This year, due to the high physical and financial demand of the World Ultimate Frisbee Championships held in Vancouver, there was no NUFL competition. Mixed competitions Coaching, social league, division 1 and 2 league If you've never played before and would like to give Ultimate a shot, there is beginners training and social leagues at Albert Park and Box HIll (Elgar Park) in Melbourne, plus teams are recruiting players in Geelong and Traralgan leagues. These are mixed competitions and all new and experienced players are welcome. This is often in a mixed format. University clubsMost of the universities in Victoria have Ultimate clubs. For current contacts, go here .
