Sunday, 05 July 2009 |
The VSUFC is designed to provide Victorian school students with an opportunity to enjoy and play the sport of Ultimate Frisbee. Although there are prizes for winning, there will also be many other prizes awarded for competitive and sportsmanlike play (Spirit of the Game), with an overall emphasis on fun and participation.
It is being held at the Albert Park fields on Thursday 13th August 2009 and all information can be found on the website: www.vfda.asn.au/vsufc
If you are a teacher/student/parent please encourage your associated school to enter a team. The VFDA will be providing FREE Ultimate Frisbee clinics for any schools registered for the event.
If you are able to Volunteer at this event please do it, it will make the day run so much smoother. It would be great to have as many Ultimate players around on the day to assist any of the teams that need help. Also just to watch the games and help out with any rules discussions etc. If you are interested in helping out, register your interest here: http://www.afda.com/rego/showdivision.php?divisionid=1148
Please get behind this great event and help promote Ultimate to the next generation. |

VFDA League Tipping Competition |
|
|
|
Saturday, 16 May 2009 |
As a trial for the upcoming Winter season, we will be holding a tipping competition for each league!
You can choose to participate in all of them or only the ones you have an interest in.
To register, you will need an account on the VFDA website - Register Here
Once you have registered and logged in (Login Page), you will see a new menu on the right hand side of your screen, above the league ladders.
Use the dropdown menu to select the league you want to enter your tips in and click "Enter Tips".
Instead of just selecting who you think will win, you need to enter in what you think will be the final scoreline.
At this stage you will be awarded 1 point if you tip the winner of the match and a bonus one point if you get the scoreline exactly correct.
The tipping system is still on trial so if you have any problems or trouble getting registered and tipping, please email me

Div.2/3 - Winter Season Update |
|
|
|
Tuesday, 21 April 2009 |
Due to a huge demand for new teams and the limited space we
have. I need all captains and potential captains to send me a tentative
roster list (with names, not just "I think I will have 14 players").
Even if you did reply to the first e-mail, please do so again (I'm very
sorry for that).
We might increase the team number to 16 instead of 12
(which means byes, but hey it's still better than not playing at all).
For now I have a potential of 20 interested captains, I want to make
sure that those teams will have a complete roster (men AND women wise)
and that there is no players finding themselves on two different team
rosters.
20 interested teams means a potential of 250 players, I'm a
bit dubious about it. But send me your roster and we will see what can
be done. Because league will start on the 11th of May, I need those
information quickly (this Wednesday, April 22nd is your deadline).
Cheers,
Martin

Dear all, another season is nearly ending and we already have to think about the next one.
REGISTRATION:
The rego pages are now available:
We will try to have a hat competition before the league (either split gender or mixed). But that depends on the number of weeks we will be allocated for the season. Stay tuned for more details.
Captains must email the League Director to register a Team.
If you don't have a team and want to play, register your name in "Interested Players". Describe your skill level in the appropriate box. Team captains, you are allowed to pick players from that pool and recruit them to your roster. If numbers permit it, the "Interested Players" will form the hat team, and will be allocated a Div3 slot.
DATES:
As I did not have any answer from Park Victoria yet, I will put a tentative date for league kick off. Expect to wear your cleats on the 25th of May.

Ultimate frisbee is a non-contact team sport played with a frisbee. It combines elements of netball, touch football, and grid-iron into a fast paced, athletic sport. Competitions usually have co-ed teams, where men and women play together. It is also unique because the sport is self-refereed - due to the 'Spirit of the Game', players are responsible for adhering to and overseeing the rules.
Come along and watch the VFDA Showcase Game on Saturday March 21 at Elsternwick Park at 3:00pm! |

Albert Park Summer League |
|

Tuesday, 13 January 2009 |
Summer Season of League at Albert Park will be kicking off shortly!
"Split Gender Hat" Like last year we are starting with a Split Gender Hat on Monday 19 January. This will be a fun night where teams are randomly made on the night and there will be several games and a BBQ. And it's FREE - so bring along all your friends! It's also a great chance to meet people and find a team for Div 1/2/3 Rego and further details are available here: http://www.afda.com/rego/showcompetition.php?competitionid=595
"Monday Night League" Regular Monday Night League starts the following week (26 January) WITH A TWIST: All teams will register in the same division but there will be 2 pools. After the teams in each pool have played each other we will separate the top teams into Division 2 and the lower teams into Division 3 and complete the season. There will also be a restriction on the number of "elite" players each can team can field. This is still being finalised and details will be provided ASAP. Rego and further details are available here: http://www.afda.com/rego/showcompetition.php?competitionid=592 If you want to play but don't have a team please register under "Interested Players" and teams will be found for you.
"Division 1" We are still in the process of finalising details for Division 1 but it will still be on Wednesday Nights. Rego and further details are available here: http://www.afda.com/rego/showcompetition.php?competitionid=594 If you want to play but don't have a team please register under "Interested Players". However the VFDA does not guarantee that all players who register will be selected.
"Payments" The payment system for League (Div 1/2/3) has changed slightly. Instead of a fixed team fee, the fee will be $45 per player - BUT STILL PAID AS ONE PAYMENT. So if your team has 14 players the captain must pay a team fee of $630. If the team has 12 players its $540. There is a minimum on the number of players each team must have - details are available here: http://vfda.asn.au/content/view/186/42/
As always if you have any questions about these or any other matters, please don't hesitate to contact me

You can watch a great story about Ultimate from Wide World of Sports here.
And there is a great article about Ultimate in The Age.
You can also come along and watch the Melbourne Hat Tournament this weekend at Albert Park (right next to the Pit Buildings) which over 300 people from all over Australia are coming to play!
If you want to play Ultimate there are currently Ultimate leagues in Melbourne, Geelong, Ballarat and Traralgon. Most Universities in Victoria also have an Ultimate team. The Leagues will start again in the new year, with the Melbourne league kicking off on January 19. However if there is no Ultimate in your area we can always help you start a league in your town!
If you are interested in playing Ultimate and want to know more, just send me an email or give me a call:
